Basic Steps for Customizing a Stock Hot Wheels or Matchbox Car

While there are many different levels to this insanity, it is really simple to take the cars apart and slap a paint job on them.

Basic Steps:

  1. Take the car apart.

  2. Strip it down.

  3. Clean it up.

  4. Paint it.

  5. Add details to make it look GREAT.

Tools and Supplies Needed:

  • Drill

  • Assorted drill bits

  • Vice grips, pliers, and wire cutters

  • Paint stripper (soaking in acetone works well also)

  • Toothpicks

  • Paper towels

  • Paint – spray cans, modeling paint, Sharpies, etc.

  • Paint brushes (if using modeling paint)

  • Masking tape
